Standard 9: Strategic Staffing

The effective educational leader is integral to the recruitment, hiring and assignment of staff to ensure representation of diverse expertise and skill sets are aligned to the priorities of the focused plan while also promoting staff professional growth, cultural competence and opportunities for leadership.

As a leader you have the responsibility to seek a diverse staff for open positions and a responsibility to assure staff are trained on a variety of areas including cultural differences, leadership opportunities, and skills aligned to the overall school/district goals.

Evidence: LPDC communications

Evidence: Data Analysis and staffing

Working with a team I helped communicate how to use the new IPDP system. This communication was important for promoting professional growth. Removing barriers from staff in doing administrative tasks allows the staff members to spend time on the actual growth not learning a system for documentation. Having examples of well thought communication scaffolded for varying levels of technical ability hopefully promotes a model for staff communications.

Additionally, I have lined an assignments that requires considering a case and placing teachers for the best situation of a group of 6th graders. There are many ways to consider these groupings but I have found that for morale, moving teachers for the sake of moving them is not necessarily the approach you want to take. Considering all the factors of the students, staffing, and support are highlighted in this document.
