Standard 8: Meaningful Engagement of Families and Community

The effective educational leader develops and sustains partnerships with families and the community by acknowledging the school as a community resource and understanding the context of its existence within the larger community.

As a leader you use the partnerships you created as part of standard 7 to provide opportunities for the community to engage with the school as a resource such as inviting parents to award ceremonies, and community members to presentations.

These links to local television stories and articles in the Springfield-News Sun highlight outreach in the community. In addition to using apps like Canva to create classroom newsletters, ParentSquare to send individual and group communications, and social media profiles getting positive news not only allows parents to celebrate their students but informs the community about our program. In these news articles my leadership is highlighted specifically to acknowledge the school as a community resource. While not using the building getting students out to teach others what they are learning improves the local community and hopefully promotes students to become community servants in the future.
